William Tyndale

William Tyndale was a 16th-century English scholar, theologian, and reformer best known for translating the Bible into English. His translation made Scripture accessible to common people, challenging the Church’s authority, which insisted on Latin texts. Influenced by Martin Luther, Tyndale embraced Protestant beliefs and opposed the corruption in the Catholic Church. His work laid the foundation for later English translations, including the King James Bible. Considered a threat to religious authorities, Tyndale was arrested, tried for heresy, and executed in 1536. His legacy endures as a key figure in the Reformation and the development of the English language.
