Evan Roberts (1878–1951) was a prominent Welsh religious figure and one of the key leaders of the 1904–1905 Welsh Revival. This revival was a major Christian revival movement. Born in the village of Loughor, Wales, Roberts was initially a coal miner before feeling a strong calling to ministry. At the age of 26, he became the central figure in a powerful spiritual awakening that transformed Welsh society. His fervent prayers and preaching were pivotal in inspiring thousands of conversions. The Welsh revival led to the widespread spread of evangelical Christianity across Wales. Evan Roberts often saw large gatherings of people seeking spiritual renewal. Despite the profound impact of the revival, Roberts’ later life was marked by a period of personal withdrawal and mental health struggles. He spent much of his later years living in relative obscurity.
