Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa, born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu in 1910 in Skopje, was a Roman Catholic nun and missionary known for her selfless work with the poor in Kolkata (Calcutta), India. She founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950, a religious congregation dedicated to serving “the poorest of the poor.” Through her work, she opened homes for the dying, orphanages, and clinics. Her compassion, humility, and unwavering commitment earned her global recognition, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. Despite criticism, she remained a symbol of charitable service. She was canonized as Saint Teresa of Calcutta by the Catholic Church in 2016.
