Perpetua

Perpetua was a Christian martyr from Carthage in North Africa who died in 203 AD. She died during Roman persecutions under Emperor Septimius Severus. A young noblewoman and mother, she was arrested for her faith along with several others. She died alongside her slave Felicity. While imprisoned, Perpetua kept a diary detailing her visions and spiritual strength. These writings later formed part of The Passion of Saints Perpetua and Felicity, one of the oldest surviving Christian texts written by a woman. Her courage and steadfast faith in the face of death made her a revered figure in Christian history. She will always be known as a symbol of female Chrisian strength.
