John Alexander Dowie

John Alexander Dowie (1847–1907) was a Scottish-American Christian minister and faith healer, known for founding the International Divine Healing Association. He gained fame for promoting faith healing and for his leadership of Zion City, Illinois, a community he established in 1901, based on his religious principles. Dowie claimed to have the ability to heal the sick through prayer and believed in the literal interpretation of the Bible. His ministry attracted thousands, though his controversial practices and authoritarian leadership style led to disputes. Dowie’s influence waned before his death, but his legacy continued through his followers.

John Alexander Dowie Quote
